Pre-Season Match Reports

First Team

Result: 4-3 win vs Oxford 1s.

The first team travelled away to play Oxford 1s at Oxford City Football Club. We started the game well however went 1-0 down due to a good header. Being dominant, Pagano cuts in from the right hand side and threads a lovely lofted pass into the path of Femiola who slots it past the keeper – 1-1. We continue to dominate possession and subsequently go 2-1 up after a good cross sees Femiola tap home for his second. We go into the break at 2-2 after a very good through ball saw their striker take it round a stranded Stevens in goal. Second half we start slow which leads to Willis scoring an own goal. However, we showed good character and kept digging away, winning a penalty that was converted by Haire. 3-3 with 10 minutes left, Lewis from wide on the right whips a cross in that is flicked over their keeper by Hinks to see us win the match 4-3. MOTM was G. Smith who was solid at left back the whole match. Overall a very good performance from the lads going into our first BUCS fixture next week.

Solly scored from a cross/shot and Akim tucked a pen. MoM was Cian who was class at starting plays from the back, woat of the day was jasper for hitting the bar about 5 times including from 2 yards. Everyone was class.

Fifth Team

Result: 3-0 win vs Bath Spa 1s.

We went away to Bath Spa 1’s. We had many chances in the first half but it stayed at 0-0 through good goalkeeping from the Bath Spa keeper. I broke the deadlock through slotting a penalty down the middle. Fred Mather passed into an open goal from a cross to make it 2-0. Jack O’ Carroll hit the top bins from the edge of the area to make the game finish 3-0. Every player put a shift in and I couldn’t have asked for more from a team who were playing for the first time.

Giuseppe Lombardelli (5s Captain)

Sixth team

Result: 6-4 win vs Bath Spa 2s.

The 6s edged Bath Spa Uni 2s in a 10 goal thriller, securing a 6-4 win to start the season. Most players were making their debuts for the club and there were some stellar performances; ST Joe bagging a hat-trick and Alfie putting in a MOTM shift at RB. The result puts the boys in good stead for our first BUCS fixture in a week.

Will Straw (6s Captain)
